A seasoned pharmaceutical industry CEO and board director, Patrick brings a multi-dimensional and innovative approach to his role based on over 30 years of leadership experience. Patrick has been Chairman or CEO of numerous successful companies including leadership positions at Kadmus Pharmaceuticals, Gensia Sicor and Fujisawa USA. Patrick also co-founded a management consulting firm to help companies achieve key corporate objectives in the pharmaceutical, contract manufacturing and biotechnology industries. Additionally, he has served as a director on numerous boards in the pharmaceutical, manufacturing and biotechnology industries, and has served as chairman of four companies, all in the contract development, manufacturing and biotechnology industries.
Patrick holds a General Studies degree and played in an NCAA Final Four tournament as a member of the men’s soccer team at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. |

Martin Van Trieste Senior Vice President of Quality - Amgen |

He is responsible for all aspects of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Compliance, Operational Excellence, Environment, Health and Safety, along with Training at Amgen. Prior to joining Amgen, VanTrieste was with Bayer HealthCare’s Biological Products Division as vice president of Worldwide Quality and Abbott Laboratories as the vice president of Quality Assurance for the Hospital Products Division. While at Abbott, VanTrieste held various positions in Quality, Operations, and Research and Development. He started his career at Abbott in 1983 after obtaining his Pharmacy degree from Temple University School of Pharmacy. VanTrieste has been actively involved with various professional and trade organizations, including United States Pharmacopeia (USP), Pharmaceutical Quality Research Institute (PQRI), Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), and AdvaMed, and he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Parenteral Drug Associations (PDA). He is the founder and first Chairman of Rx-360 and is currently on their Board of Directors. Rx-360 is a nonprofit international supply chain organization that will enhance patient safety by increasing the security and quality of all parts of the supply chain. PharmaVoice in 2012 named VanTrieste as one of the 100 most inspiring people in the pharmaceutical industry and call him “a man with a mission”. |

Steve Wolfgang Acting Associate Director ODSIR CDER - FDA

Dr. Wolfgang is Acting Associate Director for Risk Science, Intelligence and Prioritization in the CDER Office of Compliance’s new Office of Drug Security, Integrity and Recalls (ODSIR). This office was formed this year to address all drug supply chain-related issues within FDA. In his 6.5 years at FDA Dr. Wolfgang has been involved in various activities aimed at promoting security and integrity throughout the drug component and finished drug supply chains. These activities include writing guidance for incorporation of Physical-Chemical Identifiers into drug products, participating in research activities for the development of analytical screening tools, and identifying gaps in excipient monographs that are currently being implemented via the USP compendial modernization initiative. Prior to joining FDA, Steve spent 15 years as a technical support chemist with the API and excipient manufacturing division of a large generic drug manufacturing firm. He has a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the City University of New York and a B.A. in Chemistry from Queens College (also in New York City.) |

Marla Phillips Director of Xavier Health - Xavier University |

Phillips joined Xavier University in 2008 as the Director of Xavier Health, where she creates and leads initiatives for the Food, Drug, and Medical Device Industries that bring global regulators and industry together in an effort to collaboratively address the most pressing challenges faced by those industries. Phillips works in conjunction with the United States Food & Drug Administration, and aligns the mission of Xavier Health with the Strategic Priorities of the FDA. Phillips is the founder and co-chair of the FDA/Xavier University Medical Device Conference; founder and co-chair of the FDA/Xavier University PharmaLink Conference; founder and chair of the Integrity of Supply Initiative for the food, drug and device industries; and founder and chair of the Board of Directors for the QA/RA Institute of Xavier University. Additionally, Phillips serves as a consultant and expert witness to the pharmaceutical industry. Phillips started in the industry in 1996 when she was employed by Merck & Co., where she quickly took on positions of increasing responsibility, culminating in the position of Head of Quality Operations at the Merck North Carolina facility in 2000. Dr. Phillips holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Xavier University, and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. |
