On October 9, 2013, the World Health Organization (WHO) notified China Food and Drug Administration that the live attenuated Japanese encephalitis vaccine produced by Chengdu Institute of Biological Products Co., Ltd. (which is affiliated with China National Biotec Group Co., Ltd.) has been added to its list of prequalified medicines. This is the first Chinese-produced vaccine prequalified by WHO.
