On September 6, 2012, the 5th Joint ChP-USP International Symposium and 2012 ChP Scientific Annual Meeting was opened in Xi’an. Yin Li, Commissioner of the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA), attended the symposium and annual meeting, and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

Yin Li said, it is the pharmacopoeial standards setting authorities’ common responsibility to develop rigorous scientific drug quality standards and ensure drug safety and effectiveness for the public. Under the new situation of the globalization of drug production and distribution, the methods of continuous improvement of pharmacopoeial standards international cooperation mechanism and deepening drug standards substantial cooperation should be applied to strengthen international cooperation and coordination on drug standards.

During the two-day symposium and annual meeting, over 50 specialists and scholars from China, the United States and other countries and regions made speeches and discussions on the topics of drug regulations, policies and technical requirements, current situations and development tendency of quality control. More than 400 representatives from China food and drug testing institutions and drug manufactures attended the symposium.
