Merck has sent thousands of water test kits to flood-hit Thailand in an effort to safeguard the quality of drinking water and prevent the spread of waterborne diseases.
The company's Merck Millipore business unit has sent more than 10,000 test kits, which will be distributed through aid organisations.
Merck Millipore head Robert Yates said, "When it became apparent that public drinking water might be impacted by the floods, we did not hesitate to send our test kits. It is our collective hope that in some small way Merck can help the people of Thailand recover from these devastating floods."
Merck has also donated €110,000 to flood victims, which has been earmarked for flood evacuation efforts, and the provision of temporary housing and filtered water for those affected.
