The 16th Asian Harmonization Working Party (AHWP) Meeting was held in Denpasar, Indonesia, on November 8-11, 2011. Directors and relevant officials of the Department of Medical Device Supervision and the Department of International Cooperation of the State Food and Drug Administration of China, representatives from the medical device regulatory bodies and enterprises of more than 20 member economies, as well as experts and scholars from the USA, EU, Japan, Australia and WHO, totaling more than 300 people, attended the meeting.

The 16th Asian Harmonization Working Party (AHWP) Meeting was held in Denpasar, Indonesia, on November 8-11, 2011. Directors and relevant officials of the Department of Medical Device Supervision and the Department of International Cooperation of the State Food and Drug Administration of China, representatives from the medical device regulatory bodies and enterprises of more than 20 member economies, as well as experts and scholars from the USA, EU, Japan, Australia and WHO, totaling more than 300 people, attended the meeting.
AHWP chairman Wang Baoting presided over the meeting and made a report on the work in the past three years. AHWP Technical Committee reported the research progress of each working group and proposed four documents to the member economies. Representatives from relevant member economies presented their own experience and practices. Trainings on relevant laws and regulations were provided. The end-of-term election was made based on the AHWP rules. Dr. Saleh S Al Tayyar, Vice President for Medical Devices Affairs of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was elected the new chairman of AHWP. The representatives attending the meeting highly appraised the work and achievements of China for AHWP in the past three years
