·Only very few people truly understand coating processes – Prof. R. Turton is one of those few.

·Only very few companies have real experience with Real Time Release – Merck is among those.

·Meet them during the second Symposium on    Scale-up of Oral Solid Dosage Forms!

GEA Pharma Systems will be holding it second symposium on Scale-up of Oral Solid Dosage Forms at the Hotel Engel in Liestal Switzerland on 13 and 14 April.  The symposium follows a similar event held in 2009 that was very well received by the pharmaceutical processing community.

Participants at the Symposium will benefit from the combined expert know-how of GEA's and Evonik's scientists as well as experts from the pharmaceutical industry. GEA will focus on particle process engineering and equipment; Evonik will share its 50 years experience in EUDRAGIT® processing and functional formulations.

Program highlights:

The programme will include: challenges in scale-up; formulation impact; understanding the fluid bed process; scientific approach to scale-up of coating processes; an industrial case study: simplified scale-up by PAT;  process design and scale-up from the spraying perspective; and continuous processes as alternative approach to batch scale-up.  There will also be demonstrations in groups at the GEA laboratories, an opportunity to explore the science in action through case studies and discussions with experts.

The speakers at the event will be:

Stefan Gerstner - Düsen-Schlick GmbH, Germany

·    Thorsten Herdling - Merck KGaA, Germany

·    Dr. Michael Melichar - GEA Pharma Systems, Switzerland

·    Dr. Brigitte Skalsky - Evonik Röhm GmbH, Germany

·    Dr. Harald Stahl - GEA Pharma Systems, Germany

·    Jim Sullivan - Dober, USA

·    Prof. Richard Turton - University of West Virginia, USA

The symposium is targeted towards managers and senior scientists who are responsible for process development, scale-up or production and want to increase their knowledge in process characterisation and scale-up on the main technologies for solid oral dosage forms production.
